* WHAT...Very cold wind chills of 20 to 28 below zero. * WHERE...All of eastern Nebraska and southwest Iowa. * WHEN...Until 9 AM CST this morning. * IMPACTS...The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 30 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes. Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Those traveling should take extra precautions, with the increased likelihood of getting stuck or stranded being higher with snowy conditions.

* WHAT...Very cold wind chills as low as 25 below. * WHERE...Portions of east Colorado, northwest Kansas, and southwest Nebraska. * WHEN...Until 8 AM MST /9 AM CST/ this morning. * IMPACTS...Wind chill readings of this magnitude may quickly lead to frostbite and hypothermia in unprotected humans, pets and livestock. Frostbite may occur on exposed skin in less than 30 minutes. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...As of 1 AM MST, numerous observation sites across the region have reported air temperatures as low as 5 to 10 below zero and dangerously cold wind chill readings as low as 25 below zero.

Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures. Wind chill values can lead to hypothermia with prolonged exposure. Very cold temperatures can lead to hypothermia with prolonged exposure.
