High temperatures today will reach the lower to middle 90s. Combined with the humidity, heat index values will rise to near or just above 100 degrees this afternoon. If you have outdoor plans, prepare for impacts from the heat by staying hydrated, wearing cool, loose-fitting clothing and, taking frequent breaks in the shade or in an air-conditioned location.

* WHAT...Heat index values up to 109 expected. * WHERE...Portions of East Arkansas, North Mississippi, Southeast Missouri, and West Tennessee. * WHEN...From 11 AM to 7 PM CDT Sunday. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses.

When a severe thunderstorm warning is issued, the storm may produce damaging winds, large hail, dangerous lightning, and heavy rain.
