South Central Plymouth County in southeastern Massachusetts... Newport County in Rhode Island... * Until 645 PM EDT. * At 349 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 2 inches in 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... New Bedford, Fall River, Dartmouth, Newport, Bristol, Marion, Middleborough, Wareham, Somerset, Portsmouth, Middletown, Fairhaven, Tiverton, Westport, Acushnet, Freetown, Mattapoisett, Rochester, Little Compton and Prudence Island.

* WHAT...Up to one half foot of inundation above ground level in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways (4.9 to 7.1 feet Mean Lower Low Water). * WHERE...Washington, Southern Bristol MA, Southern Plymouth MA, Southeast Providence RI, Eastern Kent RI, Bristol RI, and Newport RI Counties. * WHEN...Until 8 PM EDT Sunday. * IMPACTS...Splashover and Minor coastal flooding is expected in the lowest lying areas along the south coast of Rhode Island and Massachusetts over multiple high tide cycles late today through this weekend. A few immediate coastal roads may briefly flood due to wave action. In addition...minor beach erosion is also possible.

* WHAT...Northeast winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts of 45 to 60 mph. * WHERE...Kent County, and Southeast Providence RI. * WHEN...Until 8 AM EDT Sunday. * IMPACTS...Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The long duration of the winds coupled with heavy rain and fully leafed trees may exacerbate the risk for tree damage and power outages.

Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The long duration of the winds coupled with heavy rain and fully leafed trees may exacerbate the risk for tree damage and power outages.

Flood Watch issued September 26 at 12:18PM EDT until September 29 at 2:00AM EDT by NWS Boston/Norton MA

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. * WHERE...Central and eastern Massachusetts as well as all of Rhode Island. * WHEN...Through late Monday night. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Periods of rain will continue across the region right through Monday. Storm total rainfall amount of 2-4" are expected, but localized 5-7" amounts are possible. If these higher amounts are realized...the potential for both urban and small river/stream flooding would increase.
