Rain, Thunderstorms, and Wind Across Mississippi Valley and Florida Rain Continues 11-03 to 11-05
Updated Tue Nov 3rd 2026, 1:34am PST

We have a busy few days ahead with significant weather changes. Expect heavy rainfall, isolated severe weather, and gusty winds making their way through the Mississippi Valley. Over in Florida, the rain continues to fall heavily, raising concerns of further flooding. Meanwhile, California will see modest rain, potentially turning into mountain snow in the Central Rockies. It's a tale of two weather stories with cooler temperatures in the West and mild weather in the East.

Mississippi Valley: Heavy Rain and Winds

Today, a strong low-pressure system in the central U.S. is moving east. As it goes, it's expected to bring showers and thunderstorms to the Middle and Lower Mississippi Valley. Some areas might see scattered heavy rainfall and severe weather conditions. Northern regions like the Northern Plains and Upper Midwest can anticipate steady rain today. By Thursday, this system will push into the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic, breaking the recent spell of dry weather.

Florida: Continuing Rainfall

In Florida, particularly the southeast, easterly winds are pushing in more rain today. Following yesterday's impactful flooding, there's a risk of additional rain causing more issues. Flood Watches are still in effect, so stay alert if you're in this area.

California and Central Rockies: Rain and Snow

North-Central California will see some rain today as a new Pacific frontal system moves in. By tomorrow and continuing into Thursday, this will potentially result in mountain snow for the Central Rockies. This is due to the combination of the upper low and colder air.

Temperature Outlook

Across the High Plains and the West, expect cooler than usual temperatures this week. However, much of the East will continue to experience mild temperatures as the cold front weakens over the next few days.
