This weekend, a potent Nor'easter will impact the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions, bringing coastal flooding, dangerous rip currents, high winds, and heavy rain. Meanwhile, parts of the Southern High Plains and Southern New England face risks of heavy rainfall and potential flash floods.

Mid-Atlantic and Northeast Nor'easter

On Saturday, a strong storm will move along the Mid-Atlantic Coast, intensifying as it goes. This Nor'easter is expected to cause major coastal flooding over several high tide cycles throughout the weekend. By Saturday morning, widespread flooding is expected, with further rounds likely. Low-lying areas near the shore are at risk, which includes roads and property. High winds are anticipated, with gusts reaching 45-65 mph especially in areas like Eastern Long Island and Southeastern New England. These winds may lead to power outages and damage.

Expect heavy rainfall which might cause inland flooding from Northern New Jersey to Southern New England, particularly in urban areas and small waterways.
