Current National Weather
As a slow-moving weather front lingers in the Southern Plains, we're expecting significant rain and thunderstorms today and tomorrow. Be prepared for 2 to 4 inches of rain from Kansas down to the Texas Big Bend, which could cause flash flooding in some areas. Meanwhile, in the Central Rockies, snowfall may reach up to a foot at higher elevations by Thursday. A cool blast of air from Canada will shift temperatures in the Central U.S. by the end of the week, bringing us a true taste of fall.
Southern Plains (Wednesday and Thursday):
Today and tomorrow, look out for heavy rain and severe thunderstorms. The rainfall could measure between 2-4 inches from south-central Kansas to the Texas Big Bend. Flash flooding is a serious possibility as these storms repeatedly hit the same locations.
Central Rockies (Wednesday and Thursday):
Up to a foot of snow is expected in the higher peaks of the northern Colorado Rockies as the storm moves through. The snow is due to the track of the storm and the cold air present in the region.
Central U.S. (Late Thursday into Friday):
Later this week, a strong high-pressure system will bring a chill to the Central U.S. Temperatures are set to drop by 20-25 degrees, and we might even see our first freeze of the season with overnight lows nearing freezing.
Enjoy the remainder of the week, but make sure to stay safe in these changing conditions!
