Rain Soaks Plains, Flash Flooding for Arizona, Snow Arrives in Sierra 10-30 to 11-01
Updated Fri Oct 30th 2026, 7:57am PDT

Get ready for a wet end to your week if you’re in the Plains or the Southwest and parts of Pacific Coast. We’re looking at heavy rain, as moisture from the tropics moves in, bringing flash flooding risks through the weekend. Meanwhile, Arizona and the Four Corners will also see their share of rain, and over in the Sierra and Great Basin, snow is on the way.

Plains and Desert Southwest (Today): Tropical moisture is pushing north, making it a soggy Friday for parts of the Plains and the Desert Southwest. Expect heavy showers and thunderstorms, which could lead to flash flooding in the Central and Southern Plains. Slow-moving storms will gradually move northeast through the day.

Southern Plains and Lower Mississippi Valley (Saturday): By Saturday, this moisture will interact with a frontal boundary, bringing more showers and storms to regions like the Lower Mississippi Valley. Keep an eye out for heavy rain and possible flash flooding here too.

East Coast of Florida (Sunday): As we wrap up the weekend, look for a returning warm front to stir up thunderstorms and flash flooding risks along the east coast of Florida.

Western Arizona and Four Corners (Saturday and Sunday): Thunderstorms will develop in western Arizona later today, becoming more widespread tomorrow. With the ground already pretty wet, flash flooding could happen in central Arizona. On Sunday, rainfall will shift to the Four Corners, so stay alert!

Sierra and Great Basin (Saturday and Sunday): If you're in the Sierra or Great Basin, get ready for snow! The West Coast's incoming system will combine with cold air to produce a winter wonderland, with more than a foot of snow expected in the higher elevations by the end of the weekend.
