Here's what we can expect for the upcoming days: Heavy rain is targeting the Gulf Coast and Southeast, while a significant heatwave is building in the Western U.S.. A tropical wave in the Gulf is mixing with a cool air mass over the eastern parts of the country, leading to more rain. For the lower Texas coast, heavy rain is expected today with up to 7 inches possible in some areas. A stationary front is pushing rain from the central Gulf Coast to the Carolinas, especially heavy from Gulf Shores to the Florida Panhandle. Flood Watches are in place from coastal Mississippi to the Florida Panhandle. The rain should ease by Monday morning as the front moves south. Meanwhile, in the Northeast, expect showers this morning and cooler, pleasant weather for Monday and Tuesday, with a few showers sticking around in Florida. On the other side of the country, the heat is on! A high-pressure system is bringing a heatwave to the west, with temperatures 15 to 20 degrees above average. Southern California could see highs into the 100s, and even the overnight lows will be warm. Extreme Heat Warnings are in effect, so stay cool!
