Current National Weather
As we move through the weekend, most of the mainland U.S. will have calm weather, but we have some areas to keep a close watch on. Today, heavy rain is expected from the Mid-Atlantic coast to southeastern New England as several low pressure systems move up the East Coast, bringing showers and storms along the I-95 corridor. The air is quite warm and humid for November, making it easy for thunderstorms to form. These storms should move off the Mid-Atlantic coast by tonight, but southeastern New England will still face heavy rain through Saturday morning due to a low pressure system.
Up in the Great Lakes, an upper-level low will cause rain today, which might mix with wet snow near the Canadian border. By Sunday morning, higher parts of interior New England could see some wet snow because of this cold air coming down from Canada.
Meanwhile, down in South Texas, rain will become heavier over the weekend due to another upper-level low. On the West Coast, a strong storm will hit the Pacific Northwest early Sunday, bringing strong winds and rain. Lastly, a clipper system in southern Canada will lead to dry conditions in the northern Plains, while a high pressure system brings colder temperatures from the southern Plains to the Ohio Valley, reaching the Mid-Atlantic by Saturday.
