Between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain has fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly as thunderstorms continue to develop eastward through the afternoon. Rip currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea. Waves can wash people off beaches and rocks, and capsize small boats nearshore. Pooling of sea water is possible around high tide at beach and harbor areas (including Santa Barbara Harbor). Enhanced beach erosion is also possible. No significant damage is expected. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Locally moderate coastal flooding impacts possible but unlikely for areas such as Santa Barbara Harbor. These impacts may include moderate flooding of sea water over some vulnerable low-lying coastal areas, especially around the time of high tide, including over beach parking lots, bike paths, and harbor walkways. Additionally, locally moderate beach erosion is possible.

For the Coastal Flood Advisory, from 5 AM today to 5 PM PDT Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Minor coastal flooding and minor coastal erosion expected during high tides. Additionally, elevated surf will lead to strong rip currents. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Elevated surf of 3-5 feet expected. Local sets to 7 feet on south-facing beaches. Morning high tides are expected to peak between 6.8 and 7.1 feet through Wednesday, highest on Tuesday morning. These tide predictions have been corrected to reflect current trends in actual tide observations.

* WHAT...Up to 1.2 ft of inundation above ground level is possible in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways. * WHERE...Bayshore locations along the San Francisco Bay, San Pablo Bay, and Monterey Bay. * WHEN...Now through 5 PM PDT Thursday. * IMPACTS...Flooding of lots, parks, and roads with only isolated road closures expected. High tides will result in flooding along coastal trails, cut off access to some low- lying beaches and coastal areas, and bring water and waves farther up the beach than typical. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...At the San Francisco tidal gauge, high tide is expected to be 1.0 ft above normal (6.87 ft MLLW) at 12:57 PM Monday 9/28, 1.2 ft above normal (7.01 ft MLLW) at 1:30 PM Tuesday 9/29, 1.2 ft above normal (7.03 ft MLLW) at 2:10 PM Wednesday 9/30, and 1.1 ft above normal (6.92 ft MLLW) at 2:58 PM Thursday 10/01. These predictions include up to 0.7 ft of surge that will enhance the astronomical tide and flooding threat. High tide varies up to 90 minutes earlier or later along the Pacific Coast and through the San Francisco Bay, respectively.
