Pockets of fog, which will be dense at times will be present for the next 1-3 hours across the area. This may lead to difficult driving conditions as visibilities will be reduced down to 1/4 mile in localized areas. Drivers are recommended to leave early to account for slow commute times this morning.

Coastal Flood Advisory issued September 30 at 2:19AM EDT until September 30 at 3:00PM EDT by NWS Wilmington NC

* WHAT...Up to one half foot of inundation above ground level expected in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways. * WHERE...The lower Cape Fear River including downtown Wilmington. * WHEN...From 11 AM this morning to 3 PM EDT this afternoon. * IMPACTS...The lowest portions of USS North Carolina Road and Battleship Road begin to observe minor coastal flooding. Water begins to spread out of storm drains onto Water Street just south of Market Street in downtown Wilmington. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Affected areas listed are based on average tide conditions. Additional locations may experience flooding during periods of heavy rainfall, high winds, or other factors.

When a severe thunderstorm warning is issued, the storm may produce damaging winds, large hail, dangerous lightning, and heavy rain. In some cases, heavy rainfall produced by a severe storm can also lead to flash flooding. Do not drive vehicles through flooded areas. The water depth or fast flowing water/mud/debris from a flash flood will make road conditions unsafe.
