Hydrologic Outlook
Hydrologic Outlook issued May 4 at 2:55PM MDT by NWS Glasgow MT
ESFGGW A storm system is expected to bring heavy rain to northeast Montana from Monday through early Thursday morning. Areas west of a line from Opheim to Wolf Point to Glendive have a higher probability of total rainfall in excess of 2 inches, ranging from 40 to 80 percent. Areas near the Little Rockies have a medium chance of exceeding 3 inches during this period, ranging from 30 to 50 percent. This prolonged rain is expected to produce runoff into small creeks and streams that could lead to flooding. Any isolated thunderstorm during this period may produced localized heavier rainfall amounts. Anyone in low lying or flood prone areas should prepare for high water levels and move property, including livestock, away from these areas. Motorists traveling in areas of road and bridge construction, and dirt roads, should consider delaying travel due to rapid onset of flooding and gumbo roads. Stay tuned to the latest forecast and be ready to take any necessary action if flooding occurs.
