Alaska - Alaska Weather Alert: Heat, Rain, and Snow Expected
Alaska is set to experience a mix of weather conditions from Sunday, July 6 through Thursday, July 10. The northern and central parts of the state will start off warm, with temperatures soaring into the 80s and 90s. However, by midweek, temperatures will cool down significantly, accompanied by a chance of rain and even a dusting of snow in higher elevations. Southern regions will face rainy and unsettled weather with potential gale-force winds, demanding careful attention and preparedness from residents.
Warm Start, Cool Finish for Central and Northern Alaska
Early in the week, central and northern Alaska will enjoy warm weather, with temperatures reaching into the 80s and 90s. By July 7, expect a shift as temperatures drop into the 60s and 70s. A cold front moving in will bring cooler conditions, with some areas in the Brooks Range potentially seeing a dusting of snow after the front passes through.
Rain and Wind for Southern Alaska
Southern Alaska should prepare for a wet period between July 5 and July 8. Regions including the AK Peninsula, Kodiak Island, AK Panhandle, and Kenai Peninsula will likely experience heavy rainfall. The incoming weather system could also bring gale-force winds, particularly in areas known for wind funneling effects.
