Hawaii Weather: High Winds and Scattered Showers
Hawaii — Starting today and continuing through Wednesday, strong east-northeast winds will bring in large waves, but both the wind and wave height will gradually decrease by Tuesday. Expect scattered showers early this week, with showers becoming more isolated later. By the week's end, a developing weather system may bring increased showers to the western islands.
Early Week Weather
From Monday to Wednesday, Hawaii will see an upper trough moving in from the east-northeast. What does that mean for us? Well, we can expect strong winds, blowing at 30 to 35 knots. These winds are quite fast, like a brisk breeze at the beach, and will create waves between 9 to 13 feet high. Over the course of Tuesday, these winds will begin to ease down to 25 to 30 knots, and the seas will calm down a bit to around 8 to 11 feet high. With this weather, some scattered showers are likely today, but they'll become less frequent by Tuesday and for the rest of the week.
End of the Week Preview
Later in the week, a low-pressure system is developing to the west, which means it could bring more rain to the western parts of the state. Be prepared for some increased shower activity by the weekend, especially in the western areas.
