A cold front crosses the area today, bringing much drier air to the region. Increased daytime mixing lowers RH values into the 25-35% range, especially across the NC Piedmont. Gusty winds of 30-35kts expected and drier fuel moisture increases the fire danger for the area.

The combination of continued breezy winds and dry air on Friday raises concerns for dangerous fire behavior across the area. Very dry high pressure is expected to push through the southeastern US, with min RH values on Friday afternoon forecast to fall into the 15-20% range. Additionally, the South Carolina Forestry Commission has issued a Red Flag Fire Alert until further notice. Please act with diligence to avoid wildfires occurring on Friday.
