For the Huron River...including Hamburg...Moderate flooding is forecast. * WHAT...Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Huron River near Hamburg. * WHEN...Until further notice. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 9:15 AM EDT Monday the stage was 7.6 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage early Saturday morning and continue falling to 6.5 feet Monday, July 22. - Flood stage is 7.0 feet. - Impact...At 7.0 feet, ***Flood stage*** Water begins to reach foundations and crawl spaces of many homes along the river and Ore Lake. * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of southeast Michigan, including the following counties, Macomb and Oakland. * WHEN...Until 100 PM EDT. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 949 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen locally. - Additional rainfall amounts 1 to 2 inches are expected over portions the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... At 938 AM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking rain and embedded thunderstorms along a line extending from near Clarkston to near Oxford to 6 miles northeast of Macomb Township. Movement was east at 25 mph. HAZARD...Winds in excess of 30 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Troy, Pontiac, Mount Clemens, New Baltimore, Richmond, Romeo, Oxford, Sterling Heights, Rochester, Clinton, Armada, Memphis, Macomb Township, Clarkston, Rochester Hills, Auburn Hills, Utica, New Haven, Lake Orion, and Keego Harbor. Air Quality Alert

Air Quality Alert issued July 14 at 11:37AM EDT by NWS Grand Rapids MI

The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) has declared an Air Quality Advisory for July 14th for elevated levels of ozone in west Michigan. Pollutants within those areas are expected to be in the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups (USG, Orange AQI) range. The Air Quality Advisory is in effect for the following Michigan counties: In West Michigan: Allegan, Berrien, Kent, Ottawa, Muskegon, Van Buren Ample sunlight in the afternoon along with heat and favorable winds will allow for Ozone to develop beyond the USG AQI range. It is recommended that, when possible, you avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with respiratory diseases such as asthma. People and businesses are urged to avoid activities which can lead to ozone formation. These activities include: refueling vehicles or topping off when refueling; using gasoline powered lawn equipment; using charcoal lighter fluid. Positive activities include: driving less; telecommuting; walking or bike riding; delaying or combining errands; using water-based paints.
