* WHAT...Increased threat of sneaker waves expected. * WHERE...Southwestern Humboldt and Coastal Mendocino Counties. * WHEN...From late Friday night through Monday evening. * IMPACTS...Large, unexpected waves can sweep across the beach without warning, sweeping people into the sea from rocks, jetties, and beaches. These sneaker waves can also move large objects such as logs, crushing anyone caught underneath.

Coastal Flood Advisory issued September 3 at 11:21PM PDT until September 4 at 9:00PM PDT by NWS San Francisco CA

* WHAT...Up to 0.7 ft of inundation above ground level is possible in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways. * WHERE...Bayshore locations along the San Pablo Bay in Marin, Sonoma, and Napa counties. * WHEN...From 4 PM to 9 PM PDT Friday. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding of lots, parks, and roads with only isolated road closures expected. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...At the San Francisco tidal gauge, high tide is expected to be 0.7 ft above normal (6.5 ft MLLW) at 5:27 PM 9/4. High tide varies up to 90 minutes earlier or later along the Pacific Coast and through the San Francisco Bay, respectively.

Breaking waves to around 10 feet expected. * WHERE...Pacific Coast beaches. * WHEN...From Friday morning through Monday evening. * IMPACTS...Dangerous conditions are forecast along the shoreline. Hazards include sneaker waves, strong rip currents, and large breaking waves.

For the High Surf Advisory, large breaking waves of 5 to 8 feet with dangerous rip currents, largest on south-facing shores. * WHERE...Catalina and Santa Barbara Islands, Ventura County Beaches, Malibu Coast and Los Angeles County Beaches. * WHEN...From 6 AM Saturday to 11 PM PDT Tuesday, peaking Monday and Tuesday. * IMPACTS...There is an increased risk for ocean drowning. Rip currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea. Large breaking waves can cause injury, wash people off beaches and rocks, and capsize small boats near shore. Enhanced beach erosion will occur. Flooding of sea water is likely, around the time of high tide, over vulnerable low-lying coastal areas such as parking lots, beaches, and walkways.
