SAFETY and DATA MESSAGE

Do not drive vehicles through flooded areas. The water depth or fast flowing water/mud/debris from a flash flood will make road conditions unsafe. Do not rely soley on data presented here or other third-party websites - always check your official national and local weather service agency website, socials, radio and/or TV stations for making critical decisions related to weather events.

Please carefully read each posted Warning and Alert as it relates to the area(s) being affected. We may provide a wider range of issued severe weather warnings for surrounding cities and counties, so some alerts may not directly impact this location. This is done to help with preparing for severe weather that may overlap or be heading towards Spruce Creek.

Special Weather Statement

Special Weather Statement issued January 19 at 5:23PM EST by NWS Mount Holly NJ

Bands of heavy snow are moving over the region, especially northwest of the interstate 95 corridor. This heavy snow is expected to continue through early this evening before it slowly starts to diminish late this evening. In these bands, visibilities as low as one quarter mile, snow rates around 2 inches per hour, and very treacherous travel conditions are occuring. If you are in these areas, consider delaying any travel if possible. If you must travel, please exercise caution, allow extra time to reach your destination, reduce speed, and increase following distance with the vehicle in front of you.

Special Weather Statement

Special Weather Statement issued January 19 at 4:33PM EST by NWS Pittsburgh PA

Scattered snow showers are likely through this evening as an arctic front moves through the region. Some snow showers will reduce visibility to under one-half of a mile and produce a quick coating of snow. Probabilities remain highest in the I-80 corridor, but low visibility showers remain possible anywhere within the region. With temperatures dropping into the 10s, snow will easily be able to stick to roads and water may refreeze, making travel slick on untreated and treated roads. Motorists should be prepared for changeable visibility and road conditions if traveling through this evening. Changes in visibility and slick roads with snow showers may lead to accidents.

Special Weather Statement

Special Weather Statement issued January 19 at 2:49PM EST by NWS State College PA

Multiple bands of heavy snow are consolidating over the Lower Susquehanna Valley and Poconos at 3 PM. The heaviest snow of the day in these locations will occur between 3 and 6 PM. The bands of snow will generally be sliding eastward and should be east of Lebanon and Lancaster around 6 PM. The bands of snow are quickly reducing visibility to near zero and causing rapid accumulations of snow. The reduced traction and blinding visibility will make travel very dangerous. Winds gusting to near 20 MPH will also aid in making the travel conditions worse. Travel is discouraged through 6 PM. Consider stopping if you are already traveling across the area. Rapid changes in visibility and slushy and snow-covered roads may lead to accidents.
