Visibilities are expected to drop under one mile after midnight, primarily to the east of US-1. There is the potential for dense fog with visibilities of one quarter mile or less. If you encounter fog, slow down and use low beam headlights.

Areas of fog are present over the area tonight with pockets of dense fog possibly forming later overnight with the passage of a warm front. Visibilties are largely 1 to 3 miles, but this could become less than 1/2 mile within dense fog. When encountering the fog, immediately SLOW down! Use low beam headlights and allow extra braking distance between you and the vehicle ahead.

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Portions of southwest North Carolina, including the following counties, Cherokee and Clay and east Tennessee, including the following counties, Bradley, Loudon, McMinn, Monroe and Polk. * WHEN...Until 100 AM EST. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 930 PM EST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of southwest North Carolina, including the following areas, Cherokee and Clay, east Tennessee, including the following areas, Anderson, Bledsoe, Blount Smoky Mountains, Bradley, Campbell, Claiborne, Cocke Smoky Mountains, East Polk, Grainger, Hamblen, Hamilton, Hancock, Hawkins, Jefferson, Johnson, Knox, Loudon, Marion, McMinn, Meigs, Morgan, North Sevier, Northwest Blount, Northwest Carter, Northwest Cocke, Northwest Greene, Northwest Monroe, Rhea, Roane, Scott TN, Sequatchie, Sevier Smoky Mountains, Southeast Carter, Southeast Greene, Southeast Monroe, Sullivan, Unicoi, Union, Washington TN and West Polk, and southwest Virginia, including the following areas, Lee, Russell, Scott VA, Washington VA and Wise. * WHEN...Through Thursday morning. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Another round of moderate to possibly heavy rain is expected this afternoon and tonight. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 1.5 inches is expected north of I-40 and 1.5 to 2 inches south of I-40. Polk, Cherokee, and Clay counties are expected to see 2 to 3 inches, with isolated higher amounts possible.
