Pockets of freezing rain and freezing drizzle could lead to light ice accumulations and, as a result, slippery travel and surface conditions. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A warm front lifting northward will allow for warmer air to overrun the colder air already in place at the surface. Precipitation will initially begin as a freezing rain/snow mix, transitioning to predominantly snow throughout the daytime hours.

* WHAT...Flooding caused by onshore flow restricting Kuskokwim River drainage in combination with excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Kuskokwim near Bethel. * WHEN...Until 700 AM AKDT Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. River or stream flows are elevated. Ponding of water in areas is occurring or is imminent. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 900 PM AKDT, River gauge reports indicate that receding water levels have begun to rise again near Bethel, which remains at minor flood stage. This is due to the Kuskokwim River back-up in combination with heavy rain across the advisory area. Minor flooding will continue from overflow of poor drainage areas, especially along the Kuskokwim. - Strong onshore winds along the Kuskokwim coast have limited the ability for the Kuskokwim River to drain out into the Bering Sea. This has caused rapid river rises along the coast and inland into Bethel. Water levels are expected to back up along Brown Slough and flood low lying areas of Bethel and areas along the Kuskokwim. - For Kuskokwim River at Bethel: At 8:51pm the stage was 9.1 feet. Flood Stage is 8.5 feet. Impacts: At 7.0 feet: Action and bankfull stage. At 8.5 feet: Minor flood stage. Water starts to back up along Brown Slough and flood low lying areas. * WHAT...South winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts of up to 40 to 50 mph expected. * WHERE...NW Kenai Peninsula and SW Kenai Peninsula. * WHEN...Until noon AKDT Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects and a few power outages may result. Trees are still mostly green and fully leafed, causing them to be more vulnerable to damage from the strong winds. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A strong fall storm moving into the western coast of Alaska will produce strong and gusty southerly winds moving up the Cook Inlet starting this afternoon and persisting into tomorrow morning. The strongest winds will be focused along the coast from Anchor Point north to Kenai and Nikiski. The gusty southerly winds will continue through late tomorrow morning before slowly diminishing later in the afternoon.

* WHAT...South to southeast winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts of up to 40 to 50 mph expected. * WHERE...Anchorage Bowl. * WHEN...Until noon AKDT Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects and a few power outages may result. Trees are still mostly green and fully leafed, causing them to be more vulnerable to damage from the strong winds. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Southeast winds have been limited mostly to south and west Anchorage today, with gusts of 30 to 35 mph reported at Ted Stevens and Lake Hood Airports. However, winds are still forecast to turn out of the south and spread into the rest of the Anchorage Bowl by this evening. Gusty southerly winds will continue through late tomorrow morning before slowly diminishing through tomorrow afternoon.

Hydrologic Outlook issued September 15 at 3:20PM AKDT by NWS Anchorage AK

ESFAFC Locations: * Willow and Talkeetna * Rivers, creeks, and streams with headwaters along the western Talkeetna Mountains Timing: * Now through Wednesday (tomorrow) afternoon. Heaviest rainfall expected from now through about midnight tonight. Rainfall: * The heaviest rain is ongoing. However, an estimated 1.5 to 2 inches of rain have fallen along the Alaska Range and Talkeetna Mountains so far today, with about 0.5 to 1 inches in Susitna Valley. * Additional rainfall amounts of about 0.5 to 1.5 inches are forecast from now through tomorrow afternoon. * These rainfall totals likely won't be high enough for widespread flooding, but smaller tributaries draining the Talkeetnas including Willow Creek and the Little Susitna may reach bankfull. Hydrologic Concerns: * Many lower locations along rivers such as gravel bars and other spots popular for camping and recreating may become inundated with water with rivers reaching bankfull conditions. * Heavy rain may result in localized ponding in low-lying areas and locations with poor drainage. Coastal Flood Advisory issued September 15 at 3:12PM AKDT until September 16 at 10:00AM AKDT by NWS Anchorage AK

* WHAT...Water levels as high as 1.5 to 4.0 feet above the normal highest tide line. * WHERE...Kuskokwim Delta Coast, including Kwigillingok, Kongiganak, Kipnuk, Toksook Bay, and Tununak. * WHEN...From 1 PM Monday to 10 PM Tuesday. * IMPACTS...Coastal flooding of low lying areas and erosion are possible. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A low pressure system in the eastern Bering will continue to bring a strong fetch of southwesterlies into the Kuskokwim Delta Coast today and tonight. The highest water level increases will coincide with high tides this morning and this afternoon. Conditions will begin to improve overnight tonight into Wednesday morning as a strong low pressure system exits the region.

Flood Watch issued September 15 at 2:21PM AKDT until September 18 at 4:00PM AKDT by NWS Fairbanks AK

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. * WHERE...Including the following areas, Upper Kuskokwim Valley. This includes the cities of McGrath, Nikolai, And Takotna. * WHEN...Through Friday afternoon. * IMPACTS...The Kuskokwim River is currently at bankfull. Soils remain moist and excessive runoff may result in localized flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, other low-lying areas and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Rain should continue through Wednesday afternoon with storm total rainfall expected to be around 1 to 2 inches. Minor pooling/ponding of water in low-lying and flood prone areas is possible with the already saturated ground conditions beginning on Tuesday. * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. * WHERE...Including the following areas, Fairbanks, North Pole, Two Rivers, Fort Wainwright, Ester, and Fox * WHEN...Through Saturday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Heavy rain may result in minor flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - The Chena River is running higher than normal and will continue to be high through the week. Showers will continue through the end of the week, with the bulk of the rainfall expected through Thursday morning. Storm total rainfall during this time will be around 0.50" to 1.00". It has been very wet lately and this amount of rain has the potential to bring the Chena and Little Chena Rivers above minor flood stage beginning Wednesday. - This means low-lying and typical flood-prone areas may experience areas of flooding from Wednesday through the end of the week as water levels gradually rise then fall. In addition, while we are not expecting much flooding away from rivers, streams and creeks, as the ground is already saturated and may struggle to hold more water. This can lead to pooling and ponding of water across the area which may make travel difficult in localized spots. - There is some uncertainty with exact timing and amounts of rainfall but as details become clearer, we will continue to update. - For more updated river information, please refer to water.noaa.gov or weather.gov/aprfc

ESFAFG ...Locations Impacted... Middle Yukon Valley, Lower Koyukuk Valley, Lower Yukon Valley, and Innoko Valley. Across western Alaska, widespread 24 hour rainfall totals of between 0.75 1.00 inches were reported through Noon Tuesday. Additional totals of 0.25 to 0.75" are possible with some locations potentially seeing an additional 1.25 inches of additional rainfall through Wednesday. While the Yukon river should be able to manage much of the additional water, smaller streams and rivers that feed these systems could experience some minor flooding over the next few days.

High Surf Advisory issued September 15 at 10:58AM AKDT until September 16 at 1:00AM AKDT by NWS Fairbanks AK

* WHAT...Water levels of 2 to 4 feet above the normal high tide line. * WHERE...Yukon Delta Coast. * WHEN...Until 1 AM AKDT Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Localized beach erosion may occur. In Scammon Bay, water may reach up to the boat launch. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Water may rise along the Kun River and typical low lying areas may see minor inundation. The highest waters are expected in Scammon Bay and Hooper Bay.
