Special Weather Statement issued April 29 at 9:34PM MDT by NWS Great Falls MT

Rain is changing to snow as showers continue to track across Gallatin, Meagher Judith Basin and Fergus Counties late this evening. A quick accumulation of up to 2 inches has been observed in the city of Bozeman with similar conditions likely to develop as precipitation tracks northeast before ending shortly after midnight. Be prepared for changing road conditions including lower visibility and slushy road surfaces as rain changes to snow across eastern portions of central and southwest Montana.

...FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT FROM LATE TUESDAY MORNING THROUGH EARLY TUESDAY EVENING FOR GUSTY WEST WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY FOR FIRE WEATHER ZONE 122... * AFFECTED AREA...Fire weather zone 122. * WIND...West at 20 to 30 mph, with gusts up to 45 mph. * HUMIDITY...As low as 17 percent. * THUNDERSTORMS...None expected. * HIGHEST THREAT...South of Hwy 200 from Circle to Sidney. * IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly toward the east. Outdoor burning is not recommended.

* WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of between 5 and 10 inches, with up to 18 inches over the higher terrain of Glacier National Park. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph. * WHERE...East Glacier Park Region Zone. * WHEN...From midnight Tuesday Night to noon MDT Thursday. * IMPACTS...Slush and or snow covered roads could cause very difficult travel conditions. Those in the backcountry should ensure they have appropriate knowledge and gear and may want to consider alternate plans. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The worst roadway impacts will occur during the overnight and morning hours. The heavy wet snow may cause isolated power outages.
