ESFHFO A significant pattern change is expected Monday night through at least Thursday as deep tropical moisture is brought north. A combination of surface lows and troughs will bring exceptionally moist air over the eastern end of the state beginning Monday night and extending to all islands Tuesday. Heavy rain and thunderstorms are possible throughout this period. Models have not converged on details yet, so exact locations, timing, and rainfall amounts are not certain. Please be prepared for periods of heavy rain this coming week. Keep up to date with the latest forecast information through the Internet (weather.gov/hawaii), local media, social media, or NOAA Weather Radio broadcasts. An updated outlook will be issued Sunday by 6 AM HST or sooner if necessary.

When a severe thunderstorm warning is issued, the storm may produce damaging winds, large hail, dangerous lightning, and heavy rain. In some cases, heavy rainfall produced by a severe storm can also lead to flash flooding. Do not drive vehicles through flooded areas. The water depth or fast flowing water/mud/debris from a flash flood will make road conditions unsafe.
